The Association of Scientific Staff at D-BAUG (ASB) is the official representative association of the non-faculty scientific staff (wissenschaftlicher Mittelbau) at D-BAUG. It represents the voice of the staff at both internal and external platforms, and strives to serve as a hub for collective opinion-making on pertinent issues.

Additionally, the ASB is a section of the Academic Association of Scientific Staff at ETH Zurich (AVETH). All scientific staff at D-BAUG (senior scientists, research assistants, postdoctoral fellows and doctoral students) are automatically regular members of the ASB (irrespective of their AVETH membership).

The ASB undertakes several important tasks. Primarily, it acts as the official representative of the scientific staff at D-BAUG at both internal and external platforms. It plays the pivotal role in garnering the relevant information from among the staff itself for collective opinion-making on issues concerning them, and to subsequently channel the formulated opinion formally to the appropriate administrative levels. For instance, it sends representatives to the DK (Departmentskonferenz – Department Conference) and the UK (Unterrichtskommission – Teaching Commission) on behalf of the scientific staff. These representatives are elected at the General Assembly. The ASB also supports the exchange of information between the members, and serves as the point of contact/reference for general questions regarding the scientific staff at D-BAUG. And on a more entertaining side, it organizes social and scientific events for its members.
